Spoilers under the cut
1. Trees! This is really the first time that we’ve encountered a non-urban setting in Post-Invasion Fringe. How interesting that these humans have begun evolving to continue surviving in a a different environment. And the choice to make the people who record history begin to resemble trees is fantastic. A tree records everything that happens to it and also reflects its immediate environment. They have a long memory and stay in one place, just like this community.
2. The “Ordinary Hero” theme. This has been a pretty big theme in Fringe since the beginning. Even the “unsuspecting hero.” We constantly get ordinary people (even Olivia and Peter in the beginning) who are forced to become heros and saviours by their circumstances. However River said that he wished he lived when there were heros. Past tense. This is Fringe, so none of this be an accident. I think that it will play a big role in the Plan to defeat the Observers. In some way, many people will need to rise up and become heros.
